Camping and Hostels

Camping and Hostels

Below are a selection of Campsites and Hostels on Lewis.

Camping and Hostels are becoming very well patronised in recent years, particularly with the advent of the Hebridean Cycle way.

Camping

Please follow firstly COVID 19.  and also the Scottish Access codes.  Please ask landowners before taking a vehicle or camping on their land.  Please take care of waste disposal.  I don't know of any toilet disposal  points on Lewis outside designated campsites.

Motorhome users

As a motor home owner myself I would ask that other visiting owners apply certain guidelines for  firstly COVID 19.  and also the Scottish Access codes.

Please ask landowners before taking a vehicle on their land?  Please take care of waste disposal?  I don't know of any toilet disposal  points on Lewis outside designated campsites.  If you are coming from the Uists, then there is one at the ferry terminal to Harris.

Please be courteous at passing points on single track roads.

Whilst on the subject of single track roads, the really big no no, is not letting people behind you pass.  Keep your eye on your rear view mirror and be courteous and signal them you are pulling in.  Always pull in to the left hand side, as we are used to passing efficiently, pulling in to the right hand side can end up in tears!  Islanders will normally wave their appreciation, so do so in response.

Finally, campsites and camping is an amazing experience on the Isle of Lewis, within some of the worlds best beaches and scenery.
