Hebrides Campervan Overnight Parking

Here in Lower Shader on the north west of the Isle of Lewis, we can offer overnight parking with electrical hook up on hardstanding area for 2 campervans or caravans, access to water standpipe/hose, refuse bin, and chemical toilet disposal point.
(CDP-conditions apply-only eco-friendly biodegradeable toilet chemicals permitted).

We do not have shower facilities and can only accept campervans/caravans with their own toilet and washing facilities. (You are welcome to use our garage toilet at your own discretion. It has a cold water tap only).

Lower Shader is convenient for motorhome travellers wishing to "park and hook up" for the night as they explore the North West of the island. 

Within 10 miles either side of us are good eating places, interesting landmarks, and great views. Drive on slightly further to the many fascinating Lewis visitor sites. Shader is 15 miles from the main town of Stornoway on the A857 and 4 miles North of Barvas, where the circular route  to many of the "must see" sites of the Isle of Lewis can be accessed.

The Port of Ness (Butt of Lewis) is 10 miles further North from Shader by road.

For petrol nearest to Shader:-

4 miles south at Welcome Inn Filling Station in Barvas.
1 mile North at Borve mini market.
7 miles North at Swainbost Shop.

Nearby Attractions:-

There are short walks to the shore and village, including the Steinacleit archeological site, from where you can enjoy the view back over Loch an Duin. Clach an Trushal stone, reputed to be the tallest monolith in Scotland, is a few minutes drive away, in the village of Ballantrushal.
Stop for teas/lunches at the “An cafe” within the old Cross School where Ness Historical Society has created a hub for locals and visitors to browse archives and croft histories on the area. Borve Hotel  is 1 mile north of Shader. As all nearby cafes are well worth a visit you will be spoiled for choice! 
A 30 minute drive takes you to Stornoway ferry terminal from where the ferry to Ullapool departs.

Shader is on the A857, 15 miles from the town of Stornoway, 4 miles past Barvas and 10 miles South of the Port of Ness. At Shader village, we are 160 metres from the main road as you turn into LOWER SHADER.
