The house is located in the village of Garenin near to
the restored Gearranan Blackhouse village, which has a
museum, café and shop. It is quarter of a mile from the
shore and near to the Westside Coastal Walk. Dun
Carloway an iron age broch is 3 miles away and the
standing stones of Callanish are 10 miles away. It is
close to the beaches of Dalmore and Dalbeg and 24 miles
from Stornoway. There is a licensed hotel, 3 miles from
Garenin, which serves meals.
Garenin is ideal for a relaxing holiday or for walking,
birdwatching, cycling, surfing or fishing.
The house itself is on a croft and has an excellent
view of the area of Carloway. It is a 3 bedroomed
bungalow and has recently been refurbished and
renovated. It has modern facilities, central heating and
an open hearth fire. Initial coal is supplied. There are
3 bedrooms, one double room and two with twin beds.
There is a television, games, videos and books. The beds
have electric blankets and linen and towels are
supplied. Bikes are also available. Mobile phone
connection is good for internet access. There are modern
amenities such as washing machine, tumble drier and
microwave.
