 A short distance from
the centre of town, and two minutes walk from the ferry terminal
you will find the premises of the Hebridean Brewing Company,
the only brewing company in the Western Isles. The company
uses only the finest brewing ingredients. The brands include
Islander Strong, Celtic Black Ale and Clansman, each having its
own, unique characteristics. The Islander is brewed using
special Scots malt, and has a deep ruby colour, and a wonderful
flavour that that is predominantly malty. In 2003 it won the
bronze medal from the Society of Independent Brewers "Beer of
Scotland Premium Cask Category".
