Arts and Crafts around the Isle of Lewis

Welcome to the Pig Gallery ~ this is a unique and exciting venue in which to buy affordable, contemporary artworks alongside unusual gifts and craft supplies.  All the artworks are originals by Jane Harlington, ranging from realistic landscape through to more cubist inspired pieces based on memory and experience.

The silk scarves painted in the workshop make excellent gifts for friends and family and are especially popular for sending overseas. Jane works to commission and is able to include lettering within the overall design, making the finished product beautifully bespoke.  Other products at present include a range of stained glass panels, glass brooches and silk necklaces. More unusual odds and ends include hand-made seaweed paper, “treasure bags” of beads and collage pieces, variety bags of coloured yarns and project packs designed in house especially to tempt creativity.

All jewellery from Eilean Òir is designed and made in the Outer Hebrides. Our collections include distinctive hand-made pieces based on themes from the islands. Our jewellery is made to order mainly in silver, but also available in 9 and 18 carat gold. Sizes are made to your specification. lt is all finished to the highest standards. Eilean Òir's four collections are based on local themes. 

Eilean Òir Jewellery is located in the picturesque village of Ceos, which is just off the main road about 12 miles south of Stornoway. We are open all year and every day from 10.00 am until late. If you are making a special journey or making a visit in winter please give us a call first.

The museum was established in 1983 by the Western Isles Council and moved to its present home in 1995.  The building once was the Secondary Department for the Nicolson Institute. The museum holds collections of objects, photographs, prints and paintings and archives illustrating the archaeology, social, domestic and economic history of the islands.   Opening-Until 2 October---Mon-Sat 10.00 - 17.30.    4th October to 31 March  Tue-Fri 10.00 - 17.00  Sat 10.00 - 13.00
