Lochs
is the area of Lewis to the south east of Lewis and is divided into three sections: Kinloch, North and South Lochs.
The latter is known as Pairc, after its previous use as a deer park. The area is rich in wildlife, and is regularly visited by wildlife guides. This area has some of the most attractive small villages on Lewis, including Gravir, as well as some of the most productive fish farms.#
Gravir or Grabhair: means "pits, graves" and is the largest village in the Pairc area. The doctor's surgery and school is here, but the population is much down on times gone by.
The Ravenspoint Visitor Centre at Kershader is well worth a visit for its historical records and a very nice cafe. The largest hotel and pub in the area is the Loch Erisort Inn, situated a mile or so from the main road from Stornoway to Harris.
