Celtic Clothing

Kathleen and Robert Ferdinando developed Celtic Clothing in 1998 from a small home-business to the established kilt hire and gift store it is today in Stornoway.

Kathleen is a time served tailor with nearly 50 years’ experience. Her kilt-making is of the highest standard and her customers have included landed gentry and aristocracy. She learned her trade from Campbell’s of Beauly est. 1858. To this day they still have a Royal Warrant. Kathleen’s husband Robert is now a retired Harris Tweed weaver.

You will find us at 14b Bayhead, Stornoway, Isle of Lewis. Celtic Clothing is situated in one of the oldest buildings in Stornoway and was originally used as a coach house for Lews Castle, at the time owned by Lord Leverhulme. The shop maintains a sense of history and tradition in the items it sells. The gift shop stocks Harris Tweed garments, handbags and accessories along with Scottish Clan gifts. If you are looking to have a hand stitched kilt made or to hire a kilt outfit, call the shop on 01851706771 to book an appointment.

We even have our own exclusive tartan ‘Caisteal Leòdhais’ translated from Gaelic it means Lews Castle. Designed in 2015 the colours represent the landscape and culture of the island. You will not find this tartan anywhere else.
